A building model designed to represent a place between hope and heartbreak, overgrown and forgotten yet still jaunty and colourful. Pictured here with drumsticks for a sense of scale.
I used Kapa-line foamboard for the main structure, indented to make the brickwork pattern, textured with a wire brush and painted with an acrylic green base and red and white top layers. By using painted sketchbook paper, I created the impression of cracked paintwork on the wall and constructed the door and windows from carefully measured strips of obeche wood, with some acrylic window panes. I embellished the front of the building with overgrown grass - or sisal fibres - and brushed latex into a tiny plaster mould to create roof tile repetitions.
