To practise my mould making and casting, I sculpted a friendly creature from Sculpey and plunged him head first in to a silicone bath, leaving the silicone to set for twelve or so hours. Once the silicone had set, I extracted the sculpture by making a squiggly cut through the silicone and easing him out; some extra slits had to be cut in certain areas of the mould to make the removal of the more fiddly bits of future casts more possible. I then attempted a few resin casts with the mould, and chose the best one to sand, prime and paint.
